A Will is a unique personal document which enables you to be sure that your wishes are carried out when you are no longer here. It ensures that those closest to you are provided for and, should you so wish, that causes that you care about are supported. Many people use their Will to make a gift to charities. Such gifts are free of tax and are deducted from your estate before any inheritance tax is calculated.

If you would like to support Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team in this way by leaving a legacy there are different ways of doing so. 1 and 2 below can be used when writing a Will while 3 can be added to an existing Will. 1. For a specific item or sum

I bequeath to Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team, Rescue Centre, Bede Kirk, Barnard Castle, DL12 8DJ, free of all tax the sum of £....... To be applied by Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team for its general charitable purposes, and I further direct that the receipt of the Hon. Treasurer or other proper officer of Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge of the said legacy.

2. For a residuary bequest

I devise and bequeath to Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team, Rescue Centre, Bede Kirk, Barnard Castle, DL12 8DJ ("all" or fractional share of) the residue of my estate to be applied by Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team for its general charitable purposes, and I further direct that the receipt of the Hon. Treasurer or other proper officer of Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy.

3. For a codicil

This is a codicil made by me (name) of (address) dated ……. to my will dated ……. I leave to Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team a pecuniary legacy free of all tax of £…. In all other respects I confirm my said Will.
