At 1245 this afternoon, we were contacted by CDDFRS about a possibility that someone had jumped from Newton Cap Viaduct into the River Wear. We placed the hill and canoe team on standby while we gathered more information. Our team leader went to the site and was informed that it was a false alarm. The fire service then asked for us to stand down at 1315. |
