Team on exercise, team member witnessed 14 year old boy who was participating in a large organised expedition training day, attempt to re-fuel a Trangia stove whilst still alight. Suffered burns to side of face and shock. Immediate care given and evacuated to group Supervisors. Advised to attend Hospital.

Team shadowing ‘Roof of England Walks’. Female 78 years old separated from party near Cauldron Snout. Team searched Pennine way to intended destination of Widdybank Farm – negative. Search ready to escalate when missing person turned up safe and well at Langdon Beck YHA having left Pennine Way at Cauldron Snout and crossed Widdybank Fell.

Request to assist Penrith Mountain Rescue Team in search for missing 41 year old male walking from Dufton to Alston. Kirby Stephen SMRT, Kendal MRT and Sarda Lakes also attended. Last seen 24/5. Weather cool windy with heavy overnight rain. Becks in spate. TWSRT searched from Yad Moss. Penrith Team found man dead on summit of Green Fell on Pennine Way. He had not sought shelter, believed to have succumbed quickly. Stretchered off by PMRT.

Search for missing 71 year old Pennine Way walker. Separated from walking partner near Baldersdale. Search involved 1st phase;TWSRT assisted by police air support and RAF Sea king and Sarda dog. 2nd phase commenced 04.00 hrs involving additional 90 personnel from NNPSRT, NOTSRT, SFRO, CSRT, SDSRT, PMRT, KSSMRT, SARDA LAKES – 3, SARDA ENGLAND –3, AND RAF LEEMING MRT. Air support from India 88 and RAF Sea king. Missing person located in Middleton at 10.30 hrs 21/5/02, having spent night in B and B and failed to notify walking partner or family. Extensive national media coverage.
