13th December 2015 RESCUE TEAM ASSIST NORTH EAST AMBULANCE SERVICE
Teesdale & Weardale Search & Mountain Rescue Team have been assisting North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) since yesterday afternoon due to the bad weather in parts of County Durham.
Team Leader Pete Bell said "Soon after the snow started to fall on Saturday afternoon we were asked if we could assist NEAS for 24 hrs due to the bad weather and the difficulties in reaching some outlying location. We have a pre-plan in place and were soon able to organise one of our 4x4 vehicles crewed by 3 Team members one of whom was an Mountain Rescue Advanced Casualty Carer. We changed the crews every 8 hours and up until Sunday lunchtime had attended 16 incidents. Most of the incidents we attended were in the West and North of County Durham."
