30th November 2011 RESCUE TEAM SEARCH RIVER FOR MISSING MAN
Teesdale & Weardale Search & Mountain Rescue Team have been involved in a search for a man seen jumping from Blackwell Bridge in Darlington last night (Tuesday). The Team received a call from the Police around 8.30pm to say a man had been seen to jump from the bridge into the River Tees by a passing motorist. Twelve search and rescue volunteers and a search dog joined the Fire Service, HART and the Police in the search. Chris Roberts Team Leader said "After around 3 hours the searchers were stood down. We returned this morning with three members of our canoe group to conduct a search down river as far as Croft. Unfortunately we were unable to find any trace of the missing person. We are discussing with the Police what further searchers may be required".
