RESCUE TEAM IN SEARCH FOR MISSING MAN
Teesdale & Weardale Search & Mountain Rescue Team were involved in a search for a missing man over the weekend. The gentleman in his 60's was last seen at his home in Fishburn Co. Durham in the early hours of Friday morning (17th). When he did not return home on Friday evening the Team was called out. Steve Owers Deputy Team Leader said "We had 12 search and rescue volunteers and a mountain rescue search dog searching various locations around the village into the early hours. After further discussions with the Police we also searched specific wooded areas throughout Saturday. During the searches we came across a number of friends and family of the missing man all wanting to assist in the search in any way they could".
Late on Saturday afternoon the body of a man was found in a wood by a gamekeeper outside the search area. Police have confirmed this is the body of the missing man, there are no suspicious circumstances and the Coroner has been informed.
