18th January 2009 MAJOR DONATION TO MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM
A partnership between Bishop Aucland Royal Antideluthian Order of Buffaloes(RAOB) and two members of staff from Bishop Auckland branch of Barclays bank has led to a large donation to a local mountain rescue team. Teesdale & Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team received a cheque for £3000 at a ceremony on Friday night. Don Moses the RAOB Provincial Grand Secretary said "We often read about the good work the team does in the paper and decided to make them our charity for the year. We managed to raise £1500 which for the second year running was matched by Barclays bank staff, Susan Hetherington and Nicola Clark." Chris Roberts Deputy team leader said "As a voluntary organisation we rely totally on the generosity of organisations and members of the public to support our work This money will go towards a project we are running at the moment to allow us to purchase GPS enabled radios for all our Team members. This will allow our Control to continually log the position of all our searchers via global positioning satellites. This will not only add to team members safety but will also allow us to accurately plot which areas have been searched."
