RESCUE TEAM INVOLVED IN SEARCH FOR MISSING BOY
Teesdale & Weardale Search & Mountain Rescue Team have been involved in the search for a missing 8 year old boy over the weekend. The team was initially called out on Friday evening to assist the Police and Fire Service in searching the River Wear near Sunnybrow in County Durham after a report that the boy, Ian Thomas Bell, had fallen into the water. Team Leader Chris Roberts said " We initially concentrated our search on the river banks with 20 mountain rescue volunteers and 2 mountain rescue search dogs. We searched downstream until the early hours. On Saturday morning we deployed our search dogs again and covered the river from Sunnybrow to Sunderland Bridge with our specialist canoe group but unfortunately we found no sign of Ian".
